Meta has now officially announced the upcoming Quest 3 V.R./A.R. Device, following the success of the Quest 2 and continuing the ground-breaking leaps into virtual reality.
With Mark Zuckerberg himself confirming a Fall release date for the Quest 3, and the previous model having dropped in October, we can expect the new headset to be on the shelves well before Christmas.

Headset Design of Meta Quest 3
Meta has taken the time to completely redesign the headset for the latest Quest model, while also retaining the futuristic aesthetic people enjoyed from Quest 2. The new device is 40% slimmer and much lighter than its predecessor, making for a more comfortable user experience. The design features three pill-shaped cameras on the front, with a sleek, modern headset. The strap that runs around the user’s head is thought to be made from more flexible material than the Quest 2, while the face shield should be more successful at blocking out light. It appears that a lot of effort has been put into adjust-ability, with the strap, lenses, and more.
New Features
As with any new model, the Quest 3 boasts a number of upgrades and new features from the Quest 2. Meta has looked to take the successes of the previous model and refine them, with improvements to speed and usability. This includes mixed-reality features and comes with upgraded Touch Plus controllers, which are easier to transport and have better haptics.
Meta has worked hard to develop color cameras for the Quest 3, which results in an improved overall mixed-reality experience. Real-world video and virtual reality blending is now far more seamless, which opens up a realm of opportunities for future advancements.
The Quest 3 has been fitted with a new Qualcomm V.R./A.R. chip, which promises to provide a faster experience.
New Apps/Games
Meta has already announced the upcoming release of a number of new V.R. games, which will be available on both the Quest 3 and the Quest 2. These include V.R. games from Assassin’s Creed, Attack on Titan, Samba de Amigo, and a sequel to Asgard’s Wrath.
Although the entire Quest 2 library will be available and accessible on the Quest 3, it is thought that a wave of Quest 3 exclusive apps and games may arrive in the near future to make full use of the improved hardware and specs.

Much like the Quest 2 and the original Quest, users will be able to enjoy a completely immersive V.R. and A.R. experience with the Quest 3 – which will make use of the latest advancements in technology.
